R_destination

R_destination is a prospective platform. Today's artists need to be able to develop their work in a global context ; taking this observation as a jumping off point, the R Collective appropriates the notion of the artist residence and transforms it into a collective practice. R_destination combines a variety of objectives: to heighten the R Collective's visibility, to exhibit the work of other Loire Valley artists, to establish international connections leading to a wider circulation of works and, ultimately, to create artist residencies. In rendering the R Collective geographically mobile and in sharing its structure and tools with the public, the Collective hopes to propose new artistic and financial models for international exchange. 

R_destination is a space for artistic experimentation, embodied in the Collective's multiple excursions and exchanges (Nantes-Bolivia, Nantes-Montreal)

R_destination commences in 2007 with a preliminary exchange with the city of Chennai (India).  This project serves as a trial run for the various features of the R_destination platform: to provide the Collective's members an opportunity to pursue their personal artistic research abroad, to assume the role of ambassador with the aid of foreign interlocutors, and to procure invitations for Loire Valley artists to exhibit their work. In exchange, the R Collective invites one or several artists from the host country to stay and work in Nantes.

This program will be coordinated in collaboration with various partners and enterprises sharing our interest in exchange, such as enterprises with economic engagements with the countries in question.

Future exchanges projected for Brussels, Berlin and Japan.
